Giving Back to the North Shore Women’s Centre
I am thrilled to be supporting the North Shore Women’s Centre by donating my painting “Still Standing” to their annual fundraiser.
The North Shore Women's Centre (NSWC) was founded in 1973 and is a non-profit organization and charity with a mission to increase the social, economic, legal, and political status of women, and to promote women's self-empowerment.
Due to Covid-19, the NSWC is hosting their International Women's Day auction online. Their goal is to raise $3,500 to help empower self-identifying women and girls on the North Shore. All the auction items have been generously donated by community-minded businesses, and 100% of the proceeds will go towards their free programs and services that support women and girls in the community. This includes their Single Moms Support Group, Health and Wellness Program, Family Law Clinic, Separation Support Group, Girls Empowerment Camp, Flip the Script (a sexual assault education program for teenage girls), and Emergency Food and Toiletries.
With help from their generous donors, the NSWC is dedicated to promoting empowerment of women and girls who are addressing issues such as low-income, substance use, mental health, homelessness, violence, and other challenges. The NSWC has between 7,000-8,000 service contacts each year!
